So yeah in about 3 weeks my first year at UAB will be over and looking back it's been fucking hard but fun. Little tip for people who think they may want to go into computer science.. DON'T its hard as hell. If i Knew what this major really involved class wise I might have went another direction still with computers but bleh. Sure it's really interesting stuff but at teh same time extremly hard.
For instance one of our required courses is assembly language, the basic code that the CPU understands so imagine a basic program such as just taking a few numbers and doing basic math with them requires like 80 lines of code where I could do it in like 10 in Java or C++.
I Love my new school but there are things I do miss about being in a 2 year school like smaller class sizes and teachers who know your name to name a few.
I am doing well in my studies at least although next year I have to take compiler design, software enginiering and operating systems not to mention number theory so yeah my senior year is gonna blow I did apply to a few summer CS research programs over the summer I would love to go and spend like two months somewhere working on research projects would give me good experience for after I graduate even though I am looking at applying to grad school (yeah I love inflicting even more pain on myself).
