Day 12

In your own space, create a fanwork. Make a podfic, an icon, a sketch, a meta, or a rec list. Arts and crafts. Cross stitch. Draft an essay about a particular medium. Put together a picspam or a fanmix. Write a review of book you love, a ship manifesto, a you-should-be-listening-to-this-band essay. Create something.

All right then ...

Title: 1-2-3, 1-2-3
Author: Fennui/Paperwight
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Blaise/Neville
Rating: PG-13, no warnings
Length: 350ish words
Summary: Neville and Blaise attend their dance lesson.
Notes: Sequelish to Repenting at Leisure but I'm not sure it's really necessary to read that first (though it's less than 2000 words, so ...). Fills a square (rare pair) on my trope_bingo card \o/.
Disclaimer: Characters no my own.

The dance lesson was exactly as torturous as Neville expected. The warm-up exercises alone would have left a lesser man weeping. By the end of the first set of stretches, Neville had half a mind to check that Blaise hadn’t inadvertently signed them on for a pro-ballet class, rather than a ‘left-footed-amateurs how to avoid embarrassing yourself or your partner* at a perfectly ordinary soiree’ lesson. The only thing that stopped him was that he could see that Blaise was fairing little better during these warm-ups and it set a warm curl of satisfaction deep in his belly to see smooth, in control Blaise break a sweat and look slightly pained.

They were both going to need another steam and massage after this was over and Neville was definitely up for that, even if the first one had left him embarrassingly hard due, mostly, to all the sinfully erotic sounds of pleasure escaping Blaise just a few feet away.

Once the warm-up was over their instructor, to his relief, put on a waltz and asked them to begin so she could see what she had to work with. Neville assumed he’d be following, so was surprised when Blaise firmly maneuvered him into a leader stance. Blaise brushed off his surprise, saying, “Don’t be ridiculous, Longbottom, we don’t have a lot of time and it’s easier to lead than to follow.” But as the lesson progressed Neville got the distinct impression (between stumbles and trips) that Blaise rather enjoyed being clasped in Neville’s hold and guided around. The impression only grew as Neville became surer of himself and their dancing became more fluid.

By the time they’d managed one dance with nothing but praise from their instructor**, Neville felt it wasn’t too much to believe that Blaise really rather enjoyed giving up a little control to another if that other was competent enough. It was something to think about once the positioning of his hands and feet no longer took up so much of his conscious thought. And it was terribly pleasant to be directing Blaise’s rather gorgeous form as an extension of his own.

*Especially if that partner is Blaise Zabini.
**If, “I suppose I wouldn’t be too ashamed if you told people who taught you to dance,” can be considered praise.
