Day 15
In your own space, write a love letter to Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, or to your flist/circle/followers. Share your love and squee as loud as you want to.
Dear Fandom
I do not recall a single day of my life when you weren't with me and I with you. Even in those days before I learnt of your existence and came to know what you are. For as long as I can remember you have been the safe space inside my own head. You have given me brave and vibrant new worlds to explore when my own was too dark, or violent, or desolate; you've stayed up with me late into the night when the shadows crowded in and you gave me clues to how true friends behave and then you helped me find and connect with mine.
You have nurtured my imagination and given me a safe space in which to explore both my demons and my angels and manage mischief in all its forms. You've also kept me learning knew lessons that enrich my life and make me a better person.
Is it too soppy to say that you are the best bits of me?
You may not be my heart but you cushion it when I fall, lift it when I am down, run with it when I am wild, soothe it when constricted by anxiety, lighten it when heavy, sing and dance with it when bursting with joy; you match it beat for beat and never tire, though you do help me seek out the peaceful, warm contented places when I inevitably do.
It's not possibly to give back or pay forward everything you have given me, but I know you'll make the trying worthwhile.
