Wow...I haven't updated this journal in a long while. First thing's first, WonderCon!!
So, on the 28th, I got to go to WonderCon with a a couple of my friends from church:) It's a comic convention that was being held in SF at the Moscone Center. After getting a ride there and being completely disoriented after exiting the car, I managed to find them as well as several of their friends from school. We walked over to the center and entered the huge hall where we lined up to get our passes. Jackie, being the odd one(a good and sometimes entertaining thing, mind you), went into a different line that ended up going about twice as fast as oursXD Once we got through, we waited for a few more people to show up and then went to where all the booths were. By now, it was already pretty full, with more people coming in every second. After wandering through the aisles (they were numbered, the hall was so bigXD) and buying things here and there for a few hours, we went back out and wandered over to the mall nearby to eat lunch.
As we were leaving, we saw a bunch of people dressed as the Teen Titans so I tried to take a picture, but it ended up blurring:/ Should have brought my cameraXD There was a sitting area and we pulled a few tables together and ate. After that, we walked back to the hall and wandered back to the shops we wanted to go back to. We also went to a panel about making comics. Four of them are currently working on a comic so it was very inspiring for them. I write stories occasionally and the panelists were interesting, so I enjoyed it too. By now we were somewhat tired from standing/walking all day. I believe we stood and walked for about 8 or 9 hours that dayXD We went up to the mezzanine where we could see the main hall for the con booths from above. We attempted to take pictures of various cosplayers that passed by. There were a couple of remote control R2D2s which I got pics of. From the window, we got a good view of the Watchmen booth. Still have no idea what it's about, but I heard mixed opinions about it(mostly good) and I'll be reading it soon for my class. The hall also had this giant t-shirt fortress and a video game area with a booth about the new Fire Emblem game (that I had actually just gotten the day before the con^^ Ummm...yeah. We did any last minute shopping we needed to do (I was buying gifts for my sisters), and then we got ready to leave. Kris picked up me and Jackie and dropped me off at church to meet up with my parents who were at an adult fellowship:) Oh yeahXD They had a bunch of booths selling swords and stuffXD We were kinda half joking about how I could actually buy something from them since I was the oldest in the group and had my license on me:S
I got the most awesome kitty stuffy everO_o It's tiny and black and has these HUGE shiny yellow eyes. We named it Falafel Osmosis Headlights^^ Or FlaffOH for short.
As I mentioned on my Facebook, I also cut my finger the other dayXD Yesterday actually:/ I was cutting some bread to go with the soup I was goind to have for dinner and I guess I was holding it funny or something because all of a sudden I felt it hit my finger and I was all O_o...it was a deepish cut so it didn't bleed insanely like a flesh wound (which was probably a good thing or I might have panicked). After washing it and blobbing on the Neosporin and a bandaid, I finished getting my bread and ate my dinner. It stung a bit and for a while I was afraid of unbending my finger out of fear of it bleedingXD (I learned that typing and playing piano with one finger bent is rather difficult.) It didn't though.
What else...I'm doing an art trade on DevArt. Drawing an angel^^ I think it's coming out pretty well. I haven't colored anything, or even drawn much, for a long while now so I really want it to come out good. The lack of inspiration doesn't help me develop my technique much. For once, I have all the colors decided so now the only obstacle is getting it colored well^^
Piano-wise, I've decided to actually attempt the song "Those Who Fight" from FFVII Advent Children:)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4FQaDQbwoE <- The link for anyone who's interested in what I'm talking about. I've also almost gotten this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N99XP4EYTJQ from FFVII Crisis Core. It's a very pretty song:3 I'm also learning various other songs, mostly by ear. Stuff I hear in animes I watch^^ There's one in Skip Beat that plays in the background that's a slower piano version of the opening. It's so pretty and I think I pretty much have it:)
The other day, I went with my sister and her friend to go watch Coraline. Yet another Neil Gaiman novel turned into a film. I really liked Stardust so we went to go watch this one and it was pretty good. Clay-mation is so amazingO_o I'd never have the patience to do that. One character in it had a voice that I swear was really familiar. I thought I'd heard it in a Nickelodeon cartoon before, but I couldn't quite place what it was. It was bothering me for the rest of the day. We went to Carrows to eat afterwards and I still couldn't figure it out. When I looked it up though, nothing from Nickelodeon was actually listed so I'm still baffled.
O_o I FINALLY heard back from the library after almost a month after taking the written test>_< It's been about 5 months I think since I first applied for this job. On the 19th or so I have to go in to fill out forms so that they can tell me where I am on a priority list...or something. More waiting. I also have to call in later this month for jury duty. See if I have to go or not. Hopefully not. If I do, hopefully it won't drag out a long while. If it goes over onto the 19th, I won't be able to go for the thing for this job and will have all been for nothing since I can't reschedule. But so far all the people that I've known haven't actually been called, so I doubt I'll have a problem.
