Water, Water, Everywhere...

The levy has burst in our town, and the lake has overrun its banks. We have no water to use in our homes, and probably won't have any until Wednesday. Every store in town is out of bottled water. I may have to brush my teeth with Coca-Cola. The phone lines are all wonky. A lot of transformers have been blowing around the neighbour, and I'm scared ( Read more... )

Yikes! That's really not good!

I had no idea you were in one of the areas getting flooded. Hopefully things will get back to normal quickly and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't lose power.

I think we're far enough away from the lake to be out of too much danger. I feel so terrible for all the people living around it though. They had to be evacuated last night. O_o;;;

It's so freaky that it all happened so quickly. That's one heck of a lot of rain for one weekend.

Yes, I mean, our area usually gets a lot of rain, thunderstorms, and tornadoes, but never so much over like three days. They said on the news that this was the second most rain that Nashville has had ever.

The ladies at my mom's office were lugging in buckets of water to flush the toilets today. XD

According to the radio, the water, if it gets turned on late tomorrow or Wednesday, will still have to be boiled because the system's been contaminated with river and ground water. I'm just glad that our roads are mostly clear. It's so awful in Nashville right now, people are stuck in the offices downtown since yesterday. :(

I was gonna tell you to wait for the release of issue #34 to break out the Cinco de Mayo tequila, but you sound like you need it now. (And how thoughtful was it of Scott Allie to release the conclusion of the cracktastic Twilight arc on a day when tequila would be so readily available?! Maybe he knew strong spirits was going to be necessary to swallow his ridiculous plot!)

Keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers! Stay safe, and stay sane!

Sadly I am allergic to alcohol except for certain wines. I'm not the most unnatural O'Irish person ever. XD

Writing that "My Spike" thing helped me stay sane, so I'm good... except for the fact that our air conditioner has broken again (possibly flooded) and it's hot as hell in our house. XD

I'm so sorry to hear about this! I hope things are getting back to normal now, and am glad you're all right... *sends hugs and waterproof pants for Spike*

Things are very normal, but Spike is still a soggy kitten. XD

All skinny and wet, with big eyes and a stroppy expression? You'll have to dry him off and get him changed! Then some warm milk and blood to settle him down.
