i really miss treating myself on occasion to breakfasts of pain au chocolat with a cafe au lait.

the french haven't really mastered the art of food to go; so this breakfast would invariably consist of balancing hot cafe au lait in a paper cup that is between the size of a small soda cup and the density of a soup cup (both paper products), making sure it doesn't spill since it doesn't have a lid, mixing sugar in while holding it in one hand, and simultaneously balancing a buttery decadent fresh warm pain au chocolat in a tiny square of wax paper with a total area about a quarter of that of the pastry.

regardless of the tendency to spill at least one drop of coffee somewhere on the ground, and leaving a trail of flaky pastry crust in one's wake..........it really is a spectacular breakfast.
