The Masked Singer
Earlier this week, the local morning news show that I watch had a segment on the new show "The Masked Singer" and I was... intrigued. So, I went looking online and found the first three episodes. Started watching, but after the first singer took the stage, I stopped, because I realized this was something rackham would probably enjoy as well. And I was right!
It is such a wacky and weird premise... I mean, it's not really a competition, only it sort of is. It's more like a really entertaining puzzle, I guess?
If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch it on Fox's website (it looks like they're keeping all the episodes available there, so you can start from the beginning).
And now, what I really wanted to do, which is talk about some of my guesses in a place where I could put them behind a cut so as not to spoil anyone who hasn't had a chance to watch the show.
I've actually been pretty impressed with the singers... especially knowing that some of them aren't professionals. Going through them one at a time:
Hippo: I guessed that the Hippo was a football player, but had no idea who it could be (mostly because I just don't know that much about football), but he managed to do a pretty good job.
Pineapple: I was pretty sure it was Tommy Chong or Cheech Marin but wasn't really sure which.
Deer: This one was a total surprise. Who knew he could sing? Okay, probably the people who bought his albums... I went out looking after he was revealed and discovered that he'd actually released several albums over the years. Huh. This one was really interesting because after the reveal, I went back and listened to his first performance and realized it actually sounded like him! I just didn't make the connection at all.
Poodle: Wow. This one was a huge surprise! I had absolutely no idea (and am amused that Ken Jeong had absolutely no idea, either, considering they've worked together) and am pretty impressed. I'm thinking I may need to go back and rewatch the show after all the reveals are made and listen to the clues and interviews again.
Alien - Not sure at all... Maybe a Kardashian?
Bee - I'm leaning quite a bit toward Gladys Knight at this point.
Lion - Absolutely no idea.
Monster - No clue whatsoever.
Peacock - Donny Osmond. Since the very first time he showed up... looking at the clues and some of the info they gave about his bio, I've been pretty positive that's him. I've actually seen him perform in person before (waaaay back in the day when rackham still worked there, Donny Osmond did a private concert for WordPerfect employees and their families) and the voice isn't exactly like I'm used to hearing from him, but he's also been doing some different types of songs... possibly to hide it?
Rabbit - I'm guessing one of the guys from NSYNC, but I don't know them well enough to guess which one. Loving his performances, though!
Raven - I really had absolutely no guesses until the most recent appearance and now my guess is Rikki Lake (but I'm really not sure).
Unicorn - Maybe Tori Spelling?
So, anyone else hooked on this odd show? What are your thoughts?
