Two Cats in Sunshine

Got a bit behind again, darn it!

Thursday turned out to be a fairly bright day... with something we haven't had much of lately, a lot of sunshine! I love how much light we get in the new house and so do the cats.

17 April - Numfar in Sunlight

I keep thinking I've already posted a photo like this, but can't find one from this year, at least. Anyway, one of Numfar's most favorite spots to sleep is stretched out on the back of my office chair (in fact, she's doing it right this very moment). It's a large part of the reason I haven't replaced my office chair yet, even though it desperately needs it... because I have to find a chair that isn't just comfortable for me, but that I know will let her keep stretching out on the back like she does. Not easy to find!

On Thursday, I happened to glance up and her and she looked so content being both on the back of the chair AND in the sun, that I had to take a photo. I'll confess, this is one of about a dozen fairly random shots... I thankfully had a camera sitting next to me so I didn't have to get up and disturb her, but because of the angle there was really no way for me to see what I was taking a picture of while I was doing it. So, I'd take a shot, look at the result and then try to remember how I'd been holding the camera the previous time and make some adjustments. I was very pleased to finally get this one... the lighting turned out quite nicely!

And Friday continued the trend of sun... this time, I got Zoë enjoying herself.

18 April - Sunbathing Zoë.

When we moved into this house, we decided to use the dining room space for the office... even though there's actual office space in the house, it's at the back and, while it has a decent view of the trees, it's nothing like what we can see out the front windows... and since I spend so much time there, I didn't want to be shut away from the beauty. This meant the dining room had to go somewhere and we took our cue from the previous owners who had been using part of the living room as a more formal dining space. We knew, though, that putting the dining room table right up by the big front windows would mean that the cats would naturally want to sit on it. We've figured out a system that seems to be working, for the most part. We don't put on a tablecloth when we're not using it, instead just putting on a decorative runner... and then when we do want to use the table, we wipe it down and toss on a tablecloth and call it good. The cats get the run of the table most of the time and are starting to learn to leave it alone when there's a tablecloth on it. Yay!

So, on Friday, I happened to catch Zoë seriously enjoying herself in a patch of sunlight on the table, doing her best to look cute in case I'd changed my mind about letting her up there without a tablecloth.
