Mr. Mouse, meet Mr. Mouse

I know I've regaled you with the tales of Numfar and Mr. Mouse before... he used to sit on rackham's desk before Numfar came to live with us and she claimed him rather thoroughly not long after joining the household. She carries him all over the house and will set him up in places to watch things (her food bowl, me in the shower (Mr. Mouse is a bit of a perv), the front door). And yes, she really does set him places deliberately. I've watched her carry him into a room, set him down where she wants him and then actually arrange him until he's looking in a specific direction. I would love to know what she thinks he is... but from what I've observed, she treats him about the same way a two-year-old child would treat a baby doll (complete with throwing him at things when she's frustrated).

Over the years, Mr. Mouse has started looking a little worse for wear. Even though he's a Beanie Baby, he's gone through the washer a time or two (something you're not supposed to do, but Numfar will occasionally drop him in the laundry hamper and he'll get washed by accident), but he's still managed to have quite a bit of cat spit accumulate on his back (Numfar tends to carry him by the scruff of the neck like a kitten). So, I finally decided it was time to look at getting a replacement... and managed to find a duplicate out on Amazon for a decent price.

So far, Numfar seems mildly intrigued, but still is mostly focused on the original Mr. Mouse. I had them sitting side by side on the counter and she was sniffing over both before grabbing the original and tossing him to the ground (which is what she usually does if she finds him somewhere she doesn't want him to be). I figure if the new one never catches on, it's not a horrible thing... Rackham can have a mouse back on his desk and we'll just have to hope that Numfar's Mr. Mouse doesn't ever fall apart. My biggest reason for replacing the original is that, well, he's looking a bit icky... but perhaps I should just think of him as well-loved.
