Adventures abroad
Life is interesting- after dinner in Central Bangkok found myself being driven home in the bitch seat of my lady's motorcycle. I had to explain to her what "bitch seat" meant and she conceded that I was indeed her bitch now.
Touring Cambodia - OMG- Ruins! Cambodia's Angkor Wat was fantastic. Now THAT is a freaking RUIN! It was like Indiana Jones all day long. Loved it! Cambodia was not as dangerous as I expected- they are embracing tourism, building nice hotels and the road from Poi Pet to Siem Reap is freshly paved all the way along. Danger level= minimal.
The Cambodians can sell the hell out of things though, so be on your guard. After I had already bought more than I EVER intended they unleashed their children to sell me even more things. Then they hit me with the guys who have lost arms and legs to American land-mines. Incredibly nice, pleasant, and impossible to say no to. I will need to buy more luggage now to get all this stuff back to the US...
OMG-Monkeys! Just outside of Angkor Wat there is a tribe of monkeys that hits up the tourists for treats. A group of cherubic Cambodian children push small bananas and lychee fruit into your face for sale so you can feed them. Damned if the cute li'l things won't climb up your whole body to eat a lychee off of your hat. Crazy cute!!! I want one!
Noticed that a good percentage of the locals have a machete hidden in their vehicle or strapped to their bike, so evidently crime and violence are not completely unheard of. You hear of attacks now and then, but they are rare and usually isolated. We returned to Bangkok via bus today, so we emerge from our adventures in Cambodia unscathed.
Met my lady's mother at the restaurant their family owns in downtown Bangkok. She asked if I planned to marry her lovely daughter and be a father to her adorable 9 year old grand-daughter. I had to admit that things seemed to be going in that direction. She gave me her blessing and stamp of approval and we toasted the new year.
