Reviews were great for Flying Dutchman and one of my friends who attended was moved to tears. She never thought that she would love Wagner so, great for a performer to hear. It was an awesome opera from my end, and a great group in the chorus. We ended up singing most of act three at the cast party at the Essen Haus (when a waitress inquired if we were singers)- man that was funny. We fight supers pantomimed an impromptu fight scene complete with knocked over drinks and fake punches when our musical cue came up in the score...
Despite the fact that I found the three weeks of non-stop rehearsals almost intolerable given my already tight schedule, and incredibly exhausting, I find I can't wait to be part of something so grand again next year. Stupid theater bug, I got bit by that little bastard in High School and I've been a big ham ever since.
I'm hoping to cross paths with the APT people (lotsa Shakespear! lotsa sword fights!) if I can get a part as a super in the 2011 production of Three-Penny Opera, in which some of the APT regulars are already cast I hear. We'll see if it develops, not sure how many fight supers they may need for that production...
