It's been about a week since I last posted and things haven't changed per se but I can feel one looming in the next week or two. The first week back has been pretty good. I need to buy new books T___T but that shouldn't be too bad. I got stuck with a HORRIBLE prof for one of my classes, so I'll have to transfer out of that. For future reference, I'll never take a psych class if I don't see a name for the professor because Professor Wolfram is so hated and reviled that she never puts her name on the lecture schedule until about a week before the class. Bitch!
Aside from that, classes have been yummy. Personality Psychology prof is nice, friendly, and saving us about 50 dollars by cutting some shady deals with the department's photocopying budget XD Yeaaahhh. So far, I'm noticing the usual pysch trend of 5/6's of a class being female which is cool, except half of them are ridiculously stupid Gina's.
I may or may not be heading out to Western University (in London, Ontario for those of you who don't know where that is) to attend the Ontario University Rainbow summit hosted by Western's queer group. It's a chance for the queer organizations in Ontario to get together and share information, advice, strategies and contact information. However, it doesn't look like its gonna be a smashing success and the seminars and discussions that they have scheduled are very male centered, and limited in their social justice aspects. I've been told that they're coverage on transsexual and bisexual issues is a little lacking but whatever. They're Western; organization and all that non-party stuff isn't what their known for. At any rate, if the collective finds it in their budget to go, I'll head out with the co-ordinator and PARTY! network on behalf of TBLGAY. ;D
Closer to home, I've suddenly discovered myself amidst a bunch of drag queens O.o. No joke. A couple of my friends have done drag performances and will do more drag performances and my contact for LGBTOUT? a big drag queen and same with the flip guys I met XD Wow. Not that there's anything wrong with doing drag or that I have a problem with people doing it. Its just not expected, but then I should know better. An important part of queer culture is the willingness to take perspectives and/or lifestyles that most people wouldn't have thought about or wouldn't take up even having thought them over. Either way, Queer night on friday wasn't a flop, but wasn't a success which is excellent news since Jay resigned and didnt' tell anyone and there was VERY limited planning to the event. They also had me perform but whatever, next! The hop was great, even though I'm not sure it was worth skipping a house party to go to (Sorry Dan. >.<; You had fun though ;D ) but some UofT people showed up for our event on friday so it was the polite thing to do and may be the better thing in the long run since I met a cute flip boy from scarborough :O.
Holy crap, something about him made me hella shy. I had to get some friends of mine to introduce us and even then I couldn't really make eye contact let alone ask for his number. Lol, Suzy and Bernice were laughing at me XD but its all good. We talked for a little bit later, and I learned that he knows some of my friends' friends so hopefully this ends better than that guy at Crews and Tangos. He left, STILL didn't get his number T___T. The rest of the hop went by without too much incident, saw some QAY friends, got hit on, went to breakfast with the organizers at around 4, got home at around 6:30. Good fun all in all :D
Needless to say Sunday = sleep , lol.
New faces, new spaces.. old scars leave less painful traces. Things are shaping up to be memorable... in the good way.
Time to get ready for the new day
Reach out for the sunrise
Put your hands up to the big sky
We can touch the sunrise
Bring a new day into your life.
