Personality: Since Minako is a silent protagonist, it is up to the player to make up whatever her personality is. However, canon does provide some subtle hints about her character traits.
If there was one word to describe Minako, it would be energetic. She is often smiling and is quite cheerful to the point where her teammates couldn't help but point it out. She is also very childish and is prone to using childish words like 'meanie' or having childish fears. She is also prone to some light teasing as well. Due to this, she attracts people and she is able to befriend others with ease. She is not shy either since she is an extrovert and loves to hear people talk. With that said, she is not afraid to tell whatever she is thinking or feeling at the moment. In the beginning of the game, a lot of her dialouge choices seem to be leaning towards the happier side but, after October 4th, she realizes that this isn't a game anymore. She isn't afraid to express some of the more somber and tragic topics to her friends. Another example would be when Junpei mentions if she is worried about eating to much. Her response is “Eh, I'll eat whatever I want.” Since she expresses her emotions with ease, this can be seen as a bad thing as she doesn't know how to control them from to time. It is difficult to anger her but it is easy to annoy her. She can try to hide her annoyance but it is very obvious once one talks to her. Once she loses her temper, she would not hesitate to talk someone down nor would she hestitate to use physical violence. In a sense, this is also why Minako is childish since her anger gets the better of her. Luckily, it's rare for her to be truly angry.
Ever since Minako lost her family, she had to learn how to take care of herself. She knows how to cook, sow, and certainly knows how to use a naginata. Due to these factors, it is no surprise that she is very flexible and she adapts very easily. As the leader of SEES, she knows what decisions to make so everyone could get out safely or what attack they should use. She knows how to be responsible and knows what to do in these situtations. Since she adapts so well, this could be applied to people as well. She can be seen as a cool big sister to Maiko and Ken or be seen as a daughter to Mutatsu. Either way, she knows how to act around people (unless something goes against her ideals but that's another story.) Since she attracts people, they often come to her for advice and support. While she doesn't mind and loves to listen to people's problems, some of the advice she gives aren't always the best. Some of the things she says are only because people want to hear them, not what's best for them. As such, she is capable of making things even worse for them. A lot of these friendships are often one-sided. She likes to listen to people talk but she rarely expresses what her personal life was like. She is an extrovert but she is extremely private. It almost seems like she is hiding something from the world.
Since Minako is taken at the end of the game, she found her answer to life. Minako has gained some philosophical answers to how the world works and why the things were the way they are. She no longer fears Death and takes it head on (literally!) When she found out what was going to happen, she ,along with everyone in SEES, were not going to accept Death easily. She is extremely stubborn and she will see to it that no one has to suffer alone anymore. She is very brave as she fights shadows in a blink of an eye, fights Strega, and even Nyx herself! She will never give you up and will never leave anyone behind. Since she is well aware of what she did, she knows what she is going to leave behind. As of right now, she regrets nothing and tries to live her life to the fullest until her death.
As a side note, she shares some quirks with the male MC (Minato). Aside of the ability to adapt quickly and being private, she eats just as much as he does. The mere mention of food in her social links are enough to make her happy and the fact that she can cook rather well implies something. Another quirk is that she sleeps just as much as he does. Even though Minako's personality is different, the option to sleep in class is still there and implies something as well. Finally, her final quirk is that she loves music. She loves the modern sounds but leans toward Lotus Juice, Shoji Meguro, Yumi Kawamura, and so on. She loves the same kind of music as Minato does.
This is where headcanon kicks in. Due to the hardship she has been though, Minako has a lot of issues to deal with. Since she lost her family at a young age, one of her biggest fear is to be completely friendless. She doesn't want to be alone again and just thinking about it is enough to make her uneasy. Minako never had official foster parents to take care of her and was bounced from place to place. Seeing as she feared being alone, it was difficult to start all over again. Eventually, she learns that she might as well put on a happy act. She learns to be a bit manipulative since no one wants to be friends with someone who is depressive and somber. She makes people think she's a cheerful and optimistic girl with no problems until she leaves them so she can start all over again. Shallow friendships are better than nothing. In a way, she is contradicting herself. She says what is on her mind but so along as it's expressive and energetic. However, with the events of October 4th, she learns not to hide behind that smile. Since her foster parents never spent much time with her, she is willing to get any kind of attention so long as people like her.
She is capable of holding very cynical views about relationships but decides to go for the more optimistic route. During the course of Portable, she learns that she does truly care for the people she befriends despite how one-sided she thinks it is. She will do anything to protect them even if means her death.
Her other biggest fear is to lose her memories of her family. Her childish antics can be seen as reverting back to the childhood she never had and refusal to grow up. She holds on to whatever memories she has as a child. Before joining SEES, it could be said her time with her family was the happiest she ever been. She jumped from one foster home to another so she never had a chance to form strong friendships with people. Why bother when she knows she's going to leave? She holds on to the last stable relationship she had and that was her family. During her time in Iwatodai, all the friends she meets are like her second family too. She fears that she would lose her memories of them too.
To sum it all up, Minako is your typical cheerful high school girl who is out saving the world. She is childish, talks a lot, and loves to tease people to the point where it might be seen as annoying. However, she does know when to stop and be a leader because of her ability to adapt to different surroundings. She tries her best to put on a smile for everyone but deep down, she issues like everyone else. She no longer fears death but she fears being alone and wants nothing more than others to like her.
Abilities:
As a wild card user, Minako can change her persona at will. She can range from being the girly girl, to the cool big sister, or even as the smartest kid in school. She can be whatever the person she is talking to wants to be. Due to this, this makes her very easy to talk to when there's a certain person with a specific arcana type. With every person she talks to, she gets a social link. A social link allows Minako to become stronger whenever they open up to her. For example, whenever Minako wants to get a certain persona and that person happens to max it out, it will level up quicker.
However, with no access to the Velvet room, she can't make any new personas. She only has the ones she had left before being taken away and she won't be able to summon them without her evoker. Since she can't summon them, she can't tell how strong or weak a certain friendship is. She would have to start from scratch and guess what are the 'appropriate' responses to everyone.
Since she's post canon, all her status have been maxed. She's now a charismatic genius with the ability to be a badass at the same time. She manages to max out most of her social links and this reflects on her personas. Most of her personas are now in the 70-80 level range.
Even without her personas, Minako can protect herself most of the time. She knows how to use a naginata and a hockey stick fairly well and her time fighting allows her to be in pretty good shape.
