“I know he’s dead,” she told Rachel on the phone one night. “I know he’s dead, but still I turn a corner or see a certain place or the light and shadows fall a certain way and it’s just like the moment before… before…”
“Before he took you.”
“Yeah. And I should be over this, I know I should. I look at Crews and how well he’s adjusted just a short time away from Pelican Bay and I just want to punch him. How can it be so easy for him and not for me?”
“Maybe the change of scenery is what did it.”
“Great. Maybe I should go to Pelican Bay. No not there, they wouldn’t take me, but-“
