"When we run away like this," Sam said, "there's no more Major Carter, no soldier, no scientist, saver-of-worlds, just you and me and the stars."
"Friend," said Janet. "Lover. Those are parts of you, too."
"Fragments on the Gate Room floor."
Janet kissed Sam's forehead, then laid her head on her shoulder. Sam was still looking up at the stars.
"I wonder how many people out there are trying to kill us."
