Thelma had given it to Azazeal in return for one final moment with Cassie. At the time, it had been worth it. To talk to Cassie one last time. To touch her. To kiss her. It was everything Thelma had ever wanted, she didn't think it would have repercussions on her life, or is that un-life, she was a ghost after all. How was she to know that Ella was the medenham witch and that Azazeal would use the stone to torture her. All this supernatural stuff was new to her.
Now Ella lay before her, exhausted, in a delirious state, and it was all her fault. She had to save her. She needed to save her. Ella was all she had left.
