They say the line-up’s getting lonely without you. They call me in, get me to run through that stilted dialogue. When it doesn’t work, they mumble things about me being ‘under pressure.’ And they back away slowly, as if I were minutes away from getting my ass insured.
But they don’t know that you’ve really escaped this time. Packed up half my things without asking, a goodbye kiss you thought I was too drowsy to notice. No note. No forwarding address. You are so damn stubborn. This isn’t like running away to your treehouse, Olivia.
I don’t have to think too hard to guess that you’re going in circles right now, trying to find buildings that match the sets and exteriors. Someone give Ms Benson a star map, already.
It must be hard, realizing you’re not the person you thought you were. I can imagine you waltzing into the precinct.
“Can I see the Serena Benson file?”
“Serena who?” Then “What’s your badge number again?”
“The file on ADA Cabot, then? Please, I need to review it.”
“Look. Do you think you’re being funny?”
Didn’t I tell you? There’s no record of you at the NYPD. And your Elliot is just another one of us Phonies. Unless there’s something Chris hasn’t been telling me.
I wonder if you’re stubborn enough to go through the academy a second time, on this side of the glass.
