Summary: Xena still thinks about Callisto sometimes.
Xena shivers under the cool blanket of stars as the embers of a once roaring fire fade to a few glowing embers.
It had been long enough since that monster - that monster she had created - was hauled out of her life in chains, so why did her face still haunt her as darkness fell and the wilderness around her fell silent?
The sound of her creation’s maniacal shouts, the look in her eyes, the guilt that crawls up from Xena’s chest every time Callisto accidently drifts into her mind…
Xena guesses it’s fair enough. She imagines she’s been the cause of more than a few sleepless nights herself as she pulls herself up off the ground to pace the campsite.
