“This was supposed to be simple,” Nyota grits out, slamming her fist against the console.

"Quiet,” T’Pring hisses. “We do not have time for emotional displays.”

Nyota glares at her. “Reman is a complicated language, and you’re good with a phaser, but not that good. I’d say this is as good a time for emotional displays as any.”

“And yet,” T’Pring shoots back, “if we expect to survive-“

Hurried footsteps and the whine of disruptors echo down the corridor. T’Pring throws Nyota a look.

She takes a deliberate step forward, crowding Nyota, close enough to hear the rush of her heartbeat. She lifts her phaser and shoots the console.

Nyota stumbles back as the door slides open.

“You see,” T’Pring says, pressing Nyota back against the wall to avoid being seen. “Simple.”
