Neither Cared

“Come alone,” read the last line of the clue. Ivy had obliged, leaving Zach behind with the Chief. Maps were not needed, she knew the direction well. She also knew it was a potential danger, but this was Carmen Sandiego. And for some reason, some convoluted reason, she trusted her. So she didn’t struggle when strong arms grabbed her own, forcing them behind her back, immobilizing her. She didn’t struggle when her communication devices were destroyed. And she especially didn’t struggle when she turned and looked into the deep, dark eyes of her assailant acquaintance friend. Friend. What a funny word for the pair of them. But Ivy accepted it, because she knew that in her subconscious mind, she considered Carmen Sandiego a friend. Why else would she not fight when she found herself naked? Why else would she not fight when she was kissed (who actually wasn’t that much older than she)? No reason. Neither had a reason. And yet, for two meticulous women who were obsessed with precision and detail, neither really cared. Neither cared at all.
