Challenge 222, Primeval 'Warmth Cuts Both Ways'

Mar 22, 2010 23:44

Title: Warmth Cuts Both Ways
Prompt: Challenge 222 sunshine (challenge 230 remainder)
Fandom: Primeval
Pairing: Claudia Brown/Helen Cutter
Rating: PG
Word count: 200
A/N: I was lamenting the lack of this pairing. Set in a vague AU of episode 1.4 (iirc)
Summary: Claudia should never have followed Helen.

The sun was brilliant, too bright and yet not warm enough. Freezing cold, even with her arms around herself and Helen huddled next to her, Claudia remembered asking her what the year was, and getting some ridiculously technical answer that left her none the wiser.

Helen Cutter liked being smarter, liked the enigmatic persona she presented to the world. It was all Claudia could do not to ball her hand into a fist and punch the look off Helen's face. Then again, she'd never been one for easy violence.

There was always a better solution; kissing Helen startled the other woman more than punching her would.

"For the cold," Claudia said, before turning away again. Kissing Helen wasn't like kissing her girlfriends in school--swift, momentary, embarrassing things that they never talked about again.

Helen's arm slid around her waist, pulling her closer. "We'll have to find shelter from the night creatures soon."

Wishing she hadn't chased Helen through the anomaly wasn't going to change anything. "And here I thought you'd be able to frighten them off with just a look."

"That only works on under-graduates."

"Eight years ago."

Helen didn't reply. Claudia gave herself a mental tally-mark.
