Title: Comfort
Prompt: 209 - perspective
Fandom: Pokemon
Pairing: Misty/Jessie
Rating: G
Word count: 222

Misty remembers the night she stopped being angry at Jessie. She saw her sleeping on a park bench, without even a blanket, her knees drawn up to her chest. Against a nearby lamppost James and Meowth were curled in similar positions.

The light shone on the curves of Jessie’s face and Misty noticed, not for the first time, that she was beautiful. And she realized they must be broke to need to sleep out in the open like this. It probably wasn’t the first time, either - they were lousy at thievery, after all.

Misty knew she should just leave before any of them woke up. The last thing she needed right now was Meowth’s sarcastic mouth. But she stood for a moment, watching Jessie. She didn’t look crafty or angry right now, just a little sad. It occurred to Misty that she must have had her own reasons for joining Team Rocket, reasons she herself had no idea of. Maybe there was a lot about Jessie that she didn’t understand.

Then she took off her coat and tucked it around the sleeping woman. Jessie needed it worse than she did; Misty had a warm bed waiting at the Pokemon Center.

That night she would dream that Jessie was with her, and that she knew what it was like to keep her warm.
