Title: Things You Don't Discuss.
Fandom: Ocean's Twelve.
Pairing: Isabel/Tess, 200 words.
Warnings: None.
Disclaimer: These characters belong to people other than me.

*
It's an unspoken rule between you that you don't discuss the boys, or their work, because you both have different perspectives on what they do and how morally right or wrong it is, so by avoiding the subject you avoid the possibility of a fight.

You don't like fighting with Isabel, who's rapidly becoming the person you trust most in the world, and she doesn't like fighting with you either, so she says, so avoidance works out well for you both.

Another unspoken rule is that you don't discuss… whatever it is that's between you; though whether she's afraid of acknowledging it, or afraid of losing it, you've never been able to tell.

You just know that when Danny and Rusty go out to 'work', Isabel will turn up at your door. You'll let her in because when you look into her eyes you can't refuse her anything, even when you know you should.

You know how you feel about Isabel but you're not sure if she feels the same about you, or whether she's just playing a game and you're stuck in the middle.

You never seem to have control of your life.

You're not sure why that is.

Title: Keeping Perspective.
Fandom: Harry Potter.
Pairing: Ginny/Luna (implies Harry/Draco, Ron/Hermione), 200 words.
Warnings: None.
Disclaimer: These characters belong to people other than me.

*
"I'm home!" Ginny calls, as she steps out of the fireplace into the living room.

She walks past the couches and into the office the two of them share, dropping a stack of papers on top of her desk. She's glad for the chance to finally put them down, carrying them even a short distance was too far.

She hates bringing work home with her but sometimes, on days like today, when she's spent her lunch hour listening to Harry complain about Draco, and half her afternoon listening to Ron talk about Hermione, it's unavoidable.

"Hey, Gin," Luna greets, sneaking up on her from behind and making her jump. Ginny turns to face her, hugging her and tilting her head back for a kiss. She loves getting home at the end of the day, because Luna always gets home first.

She's the one who makes sure that Ginny doesn't let her work overwhelm her, who makes sure that Ginny has the chance to play, laugh and relax, who keeps their relationship in perspective.

The school gossips got many things right, and a lot of things wrong.

Though it strikes even her as ironic, Luna handles adulthood best of them all.

Title: Mental Shadows.
Fandom: The L Word.
Pairing: Hints of Jenny/Shane & Jenny/Marina, 200 words.
Warnings: None.
Disclaimer: These characters belong to people other than me.

*
Jenny knows that Shane doesn't really understand why she took the job as a dancer, essentially a stripper, but she has no words to explain it, though she should have, and Shane doesn't possess the ability to peek inside her head.

She wouldn't really want Shane in her head, anyway; it's an ugly, dark place, full of shadows and sharp, jagged memories that cut her soul to the quick every time she gets lost inside. She wouldn't want Shane to see that.

She wonders if Marina felt like this, back then, and how different things might be now if she'd picked up the phone that night and called her back.

She still misses Marina, still sometimes wishes she could kiss her again, still sometimes dreams about her at night. She thinks Marina would understand what she's going through, would know how to help, but Marina isn't here and she hasn't been for quite some time.

She conjures up worlds of her own creation in her mind's eye, passing the time by watching imaginary people live their lives, and can't find the words to translate her worlds to written stories.

Her creations are fragile, without solid foundation, and they always dissolve.
