Does everything happen just to bring her to this moment, with Xena sleeping so close and with the end so near?
How is it that everything, the battle to come and the inevitable loss lurking, fades away and only this second is highlighted?
Gabrielle reaches out and touches a lock of Xena's hair. And within herself sets off the final longing.
