Ursa’s arranged marriage made her depressed. She had married Ozai, a prince of the Fire Nation. Now the only peaceful time she ever found was when her new family was away attending war meetings.
“Hello,” a woman a few years younger spoke to her.
“Good morning,” the princess replied politely. The girl was dressed in a guard’s uniform. “Am I to assume that you are the new guard who was assigned to me?”
Ming nodded formally, trying to hide how beautiful she thought the new princess was. She hadn’t expected the princess to be so soft-spoken.
Ursa smiled politely at the young guard to put her at ease.
“I will be guarding you when you are otherwise unattended,” Ming stated noticing how the princess’ eyes weren’t smiling like her mouth was. She softly added, “I am very fortunate, this is my first assignment.”
Ursa looked the other woman in the eye, and opened her mouth to say something when a servant summoned her saying that the meeting was over and Ozai had requested her presence. She politely excused herself from Ming’s presence.
As Ursa navigated the corridor she smiled, it was the first time she felt comfortable in the palace. She was already looking forward to seeing the enchanting young woman again.
