The door was familiar, a small sign with "Hermione" written on it hanging in the exact center. It had been years since Hermione had been inside her childhood bedroom, even longer since she had truly considered it home.
Inside the room, though, the changes surprised her. A computer sat on the desk where she had spent hours perfecting her summer essays; a file cabinet replaced her school trunk in the corner. It was distressing, another reminder that time had continued in a world she no longer inhabited.
Luna gently touched her ear.
It was a strange place to touch. Anyone else would've held her hand, maybe given her a hug.
She looked over at Luna. Her head was tilted in concern, and the sunlight coming through the window lit up her hair.
For the first time, Hermione felt hope. That someday, she could be happy again.
