Konata sat at her computer desk, scrolling through a list of stories one of her favorite fan-fiction archives.
"Come on, you guys!" she shouted at her monitor. "Seriously?"
"What are you griping about now, Konata?" asked Kagami.
"The absurdity of some of these 'shipping names' people use in their stories is too much to bear."
Kagami cocked her head to the side. "'Shipping names'?"
"Yeah," said Konata. "You take parts of two people's names and make a new name with them, like 'KaiRiku' or 'Taiora' or something. Fanfic writers do it almost all the time. They even made one up for us."
"Really? What kind of name did we get?"
"Apparently, ours is...'Konami'."
Konata tried hard to stifle a laugh when she said the name, but Kagami was not amused.
"'Konami'? You mean like the video game company? You're right...that is absurd."
"When I write my next fanfic," Konata declared, "I'm going to use the characters' full names so that people unfamiliar with the series will know who the story is about."
"Oh, you and your computers, Konata," Kagami said mockingly. "Why don't you turn that off for once and try the real thing on for size?"
Konata acknowledged Kagami's playful stare, and she swiveled around in her chair to face her pigtail-wearing friend. "Do we get to jump straight to the 'good parts'?"
"Only the best," replied Kagami.
"I'm sold. When do we start?"
Kagami tackled Konata to the floor and gazed into her eyes, panting heavily. "Right now."
