Out of Mind

Hermione exited the Apothecary and turned left, her steps quickening as she approached Flourish and Blotts.

She was supposed to meet Luna at one o’ clock.

She winced as she spotted her lover, who was talking to a blank wall.

“Luna!” She called out, collecting the blonde by the arm and escorting her into the bookstore.

Luna followed along placidly, a pleasant look on her face.

Hermione browsed through the Advanced Numerology section, smiling amusedly when Luna wandered off toward the periodicals, head cocked to the side and eyes slightly unfocused.

There were times Hermione thought Luna would drive her absolutely barmy: chattering away about Snorkacks, conversing with inanimate objects, staring into space while Hermione was trying to organize a flow chart for their household chores…

Living with Luna Lovegood was an adventure in the bizarre.

But there was more to Luna than her odd behavior: She was brave and loyal and wickedly smart, even if her logic seemed to move in fits and starts and half-twisting somersaults.

She was beautiful and lithe and glittered like a star when she laughed, and she gave herself wholeheartedly to Hermione, in and outside of the bedroom.

Luna’s soft hands would tease Hermione until she was trembling, smooth and cool like moonbeams against her skin.

Fingers delving into moist places, Luna would stoke and rub and pet until Hermione was screaming in pleasure, Luna’s great grey eyes always watching, always seeing.

Hermione smiled.

Sometimes, being driven out of her mind wasn’t so bad.

FIN.
