Title: Our Endless Numbered Days
Fandom: CSI
Pairing: Cath/Sara (prompt - 23.00 - Endless)
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 160
AN: Title from the Iron and Wine album of the same name.

A body on the slab. One woman pushes past the coroner’s protestations to find the other, with the precise y incision of an autopsy, folded inside out. Her blonde hair lies in wet clumps on the floor, exposing the bullet hole in her skull.

A fight. About nothing or about everything. The older one always likes to make a dramatic exit. This isn’t working. The younger one will brood alone and pretend it never did.

A car crash.

A wedding (not theirs).

A hospital bed. One woman cries and says she always thought the other would be too stubborn to die before her. The dark haired one struggles against the machine that regulates her breathing but manages to laugh. She has strands of grey threaded through her head and the other woman’s life threaded through her heart.

It could end this way.

Title: Wedding Anniversary
Fandom: CSI
Pairing: Cath/Sara (prompt - 02.00 - Anniversary)
Rating: PG
Word count: 243

Catherine had celebrated her wedding anniversary many different ways.

Year One. Lindsey had been born a month earlier. Eddie stayed home that night, the new house smelt of baby powder and Catherine thought they were happy.

The third year. Eddie had taken her out for a meal she didn’t think he could afford. He had made her laugh, given her jewellery and danced close enough to make the other men in the room jealous. Afterwards they had sex in the back of the club. It was what he wanted and Catherine was trying hard to be a better wife.

Two years later Catherine spent her anniversary washing the sheets she’d found Eddie and his mistress on and wondering if, as a CSI, she knew how to commit the perfect murder.

Year Six. She drank too much and half heartedly tried to seduce Grissom.

Year Seven. She stayed at home in case she tried the same with Warrick..

The ninth year. Her errant ex-husband died. Catherine took Lindsey to put flowers on her father’s grave. She cried out of nostalgia and anger, but not out of regret.

On what would have been her tenth wedding anniversary, Catherine’s girlfriend made her dinner without needing any reason to celebrate. It was a surprise, and vegetarian, and totally inedible. Sara made it up to Catherine with her kisses, and her words, and her hands.

Catherine lay down and forgot it was her wedding anniversary at all.
