Internal Affairs
Author: CrashCart9
Fandom: Psych
Pairing: Karen Vick/Juliet O’Hara
Rating: G
Prompt: femslash100's 117: "Ghost"
Date: 8/19/07
Words: 200
Notes: This is a bit of a weird one stylistically for me. I didn’t intend it to be in this point of view when I started, but it sort of turned into a Karen internal monologue. It’s set at the end of the second to last scene of the episode “Scary Sherry” (1x15), where in the deleted scene on the DVD, Juliet calls Karen “Chief” instead of “Interim Chief”, the interim bit being a point that everyone had been very emphatic upon using up until now. And now there is no longer no--read it, zero--Karen/Jules on the internets, which is win, because that was just too sad.
Summary: Please say that O’Hara didn’t just leave off the “Interim”.

**********

Oh no.

Please say that O’Hara didn’t just leave off the “Interim”.

So maybe that’s not a problem in itself. The smile, though? And the sparkle? She’s got to be exhausted as hell, she looks terrible, and yet there was definitely sparkle.

She was flirting with you.

Maybe it was just the last vestiges of enthusiasm-after all, she did catch a fake ghost and prevent a murder (albeit her own). There’s adrenaline (though you saw in her eyes that it’s crashing quickly) and the fact that she finally closed the case and maybe even impressed you like someone let slip she was dying to do, and she’s proud, and you’ve seen how she gets bubbly when she’s even a little excited. That’s part of what makes her so-

Oh no.

You were about to say “cute”, weren’t you, Vick?

This can’t be good. This is never good. Just walk away, Karen-good-and now. . . stop thinking about the bubble bath.

Her in the bubble bath.

You in the same bubble bath.

Oh no.

But . . . then again, maybe it’s about time that the police stopped losing all of their best people to the lawyers, anyway.
