Apt to Get Burned
On the backwater planet of Pontus, Zoe was less than pleased to run into Saffron.
“How fitting, to met you here.” Saffron said, flirtatiously tossing her red hair over creamy bare shoulders, laying her hand on Zoe’s. “In myth Pontus was the kingdom of the Amazons, a race of woman warriors. Women like you, fearless in battle, disciplined, strong.”
“Apparently you’re quite an expert at doling out violence yourself,” Zoe said cautiously.
“I do have some skill. Perhaps we could spar, test each other at hand to hand combat,” Saffron offered. She drew close and her voice dropped to a whisper. “Of course, grappling with a worthy opponent can turn into something else entirely. Have you been lonely, without your husband? A woman has needs…”
Zoe drew her gun.
“My needs don’t include getting sold to slavers or waking up without vital internal organs,” Zoe said. “As much as I’d enjoy ‘grappling’ with you, I’ve heard tell of you burning enough folk that I believe I’ll keep my distance.”
