The amount of hate associated with that one house was uncanny. Had she been anyone else, Alex would have adored the place. The scenery was lovely. It was a place she owned. She wanted to love it, but she couldn't. Its appeal was lost on her.
This Wisconsin house was not a symbol of a new beginning. Rather, it represented the loss in her life. The only thing missing from the house was her girlfriend. But Olivia would never be there. She couldn't call, couldn't visit. All contact between them had to end. The loss devastated her. She hated it.
