Returning Favors
Nessarose sat, propped up by pillows, on the Eminence throne.
“Yes, introduce the next one,” she said. She was tired. Coming over as dignified while being armless required quite some energy.
A servant coughed and announced, “Miss Glinda of the Arduennas.”
Nessarose made a surprised movement, causing her to tip over. Fortunately Nanny was there to catch her. “Pardon me? Miss Glinda?” she said when she was set upright again.
“Yes, your Eminence,” the servant said. “Should I let her in?”
Nessie nodded; Nanny, who was straightening her Eminence’s clothes, cried out, “Yes, of course!” When Glinda entered, Nanny helped Nessarose get up. Glinda rushed to the throne with a big smile on her face.
“Nessie! Oh, oh Nessie! How long it has been since we’ve spoken to each other! And look at you now… Eminence of Munchkinland and living on Colwen Grounds. Who had ever suspected that the pious Nessie would turn out to be the most successful of our group? But look at you now: sitting as straight as a queen and as determined as an emperor,” she exclaimed, talking so fast that it seemed as if she was running out of time.
Nanny led Nessarose to Glinda, and supported her while she kissed Glinda on her cheeks.
“Oh, I wish I sat as straight as a queen,” she sighed. “But with my disability it’s pretty difficult. If not for the Unnamed God, I’d have fallen down long ago. He’s the one who keeps me going; He’s the one who keeps me standing.”
“Come, come, child, not so pessimistic. Glinda’s here! That’s reason for celebration,” Nanny said lovingly. She brought Nessa back to her throne and placed a chair opposite of her Eminence, where Glinda seated herself.
When everyone was holding a cup of hot tea, Glinda cleared her throat. “It’s funny you mentioned how the Unnamed God keep you going, because I have something that might keep you going as well,” she said. Nessarose looked at her expectantly. “Those pretty shoes! Except for making your feet look beautiful, they do nothing else. But I can change that. Enchant them! Make you as balanced as an acrobat when you stand in them! They’ll make you independent, Nessie, they’ll give you some dignity.”
Nessarose looked hesitant for a moment, and Nanny exclaimed, “But what will Nanny be supposed to do? If you could do that, Nanny would be worthless!” She fell silent when she saw Nessie’s face brighten.
“Nanny, I can’t be dependent on you all my life,” Nessa said to her,” and Glinda is right. It’ll give me some dignity. So what do you have to do? Do you need anything?” she added, turning to Glinda.
“I only need a private room so you and I can be alone, that’ll ensure I won’t make any mistakes,” Glinda said, and when she saw Nanny wanted to protest, she added, “I can support Nessarose just as well as you can, Nanny. Besides, in half an hour she’ll be able to stand and walk on her own.”
Glinda helped her Eminence stand up, and together they slowly walked to a room at the back of the Throne Hall. Nessarose couldn’t help but notice how lovely Glinda smelled; they had never been this close together.
“Now give me those shoes,” Glinda said when Nessarose was seated, “and I’ll magic them for you. It’ll be pretty sensational. You’ll feel like a toddler walking without mommy for the first time.”
Nessarose pulled her feet out of the shoes. It felt weird letting someone fiddle with the shoes; if anything went wrong, Frex would be devastated. The shoes were his masterpieces.
But Glinda had already put them neatly together and was kneeling over them, muttering words Nessie didn’t understand. Her face had a serious expression and it made her look very elegant. The combination of ringlets and frowns was perfect.
“Done,” Glinda said after five minutes. “Try them on, I’m anxious to see If my combination of spells worked.”
Nessarose put the shoes on and felt a tingling sensation in her feet. Carefully, she stood up - and she didn’t fall. She took a step, and she still kept her balance. She walked to the other side of the room, turned around and laughed.
“Glinda, look!” she exclaimed, while bending forward - without falling over. She started jumping around the room; it looked awfully unnatural, the way she moved and jumped without arms.
Glinda took a hold of Nessarose after a moment. “We still have twenty minutes left,” she said. “And if you don’t mind, I’d like to get a reward for what I’ve done,” she added, before kissing Nessa.
The surprised Nesarose pulled back. “Oh, you do mind?” Glinda asked, disappointed.
But Nessa stepped back towards Glinda. “It came a bit unexpected,” she said, smiling. “But well, after what you’ve done for me, I can’t easily deny anything, can I?”
“Hmm, I don’t think so,” Glinda said against Nessarose’s lips, before kissing her again, “and your Unnamed God doesn’t mind you doing this?”
“I don’t think so, Nessa replied, ”he’s very keen on returning favors.”
Glinda pulled Nessarose’s dress off and got out of her pink-glitter dress herself. She stretched out on a couch. “Well, go on, Nessa,” she said. “Explore your shoes some more.”
Nessa leaned forward, kissing Glinda, and with her new gained balance, she started doing things she thought she could never have done.

“And Andrea?”
“Yes?” Andrea had looked up to Emily, sitting at the opposite desk.
“There is one more thing Miranda wants us to do, and you should know abut that before going to the lingerie shoots with me,” Emily had said, while she’d gotten up and walked over to Andrea’s desk.
“Well?” Andrea had sighed. More of Miranda’s demands.
“Miranda’s marriage isn’t going very well, you know,” Emily had said, looking down upon Andrea. “And as her assistants, we have to… satisfy her, from time to time.”
Andrea had frowned. What was going on?
“Don’t frown like that, it’s completely harmless. The only thing we do - mind you, after taking notes and doing all the normal things Miranda usually wants us to do - is stay after everyone has left. And then you just do what Miranda asks us to do. You’d better listen to her, though. You know by now that Miranda doesn’t appreciate any opposition.” With that threat, Emily had turned around and walked back to her desk, and while she sat down, she’d glanced at Andrea with a meaningful look in her eyes.
But although Andrea had been nervous about what was going to come, she’d been determined not to get fired. She’d show Emily what she was worth. She’d do what Miranda told her to do.
So there she was, standing in nothing but a bra and undies - pretty ones, she had to admit - next to Emily. Miranda was standing in front of them, her eyes wandering over their bodies.
“Hmm,” Miranda sighed, while starting to walk circle around them. At times, Andrea could feel Miranda’s clothes touching her bare skin. Andrea turned her head to look at Emily, who stared straight ahead. When Andrea turned her head back to look forward herself, she saw that Miranda was standing in front of her.
“Well, well! So there is a pretty one under all those unflattering… things,” she said, running her finger from Andrea’s shoulder to her elbow. Andrea shivered.
Miranda continued her circling, and Andrea glanced at her for a moment. The same critical look with which she judged everything Runway-related. Was that good or bad?
She approached Andrea again; she could feel the hairs on her neck being touched by Miranda’s breath, and she felt a hand touching her back. Emily shifted uncomfortably - was this what Miranda usually did to her?
Softly, Andrea felt Miranda’s lips touch her neck; it lasted only two seconds. After that, Miranda breathed softly into Andrea’s ear, then turned around abruptly. Walking away, she made a short hand gesture.
“That’s all.”

Reflections
Hogwarts kept surprising her. How she’d found it was a mystery. Probably some spell had stopped working after Dumbledore’s death. It didn’t really matter anyway. It was not the how that mattered, it was the what.
She sat in front of the mirror of Erised; legs crossed, butt cold. Oh, yes, she’d heard the rumors. Harry Potter, the lil’ innocent thing, had seen his parents, Dumbledore had used it to hide the Sorcerer’s Stone, yadda, yadda. She’d always wanted to see her deepest wish, although she’d thought she knew what she would see. Frightening. Terrifying. Death Eater.
What she actually saw was different. Shocking. Surprising? Not really. Well, yeah, in a way it was. She knew she wanted it, but that it was her deepest wish…
She looked at the mirror again. It wasn’t a bad wish. Not at all.
She was lying on a couch; legs spread, smiling. A girl was on her knees, head in between her legs. It honestly did look quite weird. The bushy hair made her chuckle. But boy, it looked like Hermione was doing a good job.
She couldn’t hear anything, but she could almost feel Hermione in between her legs. Just then the mirror-she arched her back and opened her mouth in an inaudible moan or scream. The cold butt-she got up and walked to the mirror, touched it. But she didn’t merge with her reflection; she and Hermione only turned their heads toward her and smiled. A quick nod, that was all she got before both turned towards each other again.
She turned away - it was better to leave now than become lovesick from staring at impossibility. But Pansy knew she’d be back.
