Also, this wasn't the way I intended for this to go. It was going to be much more about prudence, but ended up being just a sort of passing mention. I apologize. Crossposted to my journal.
“Come on Sue Ellen, let me help you upstairs.”
Sue Ellen tensed, jerking away as Pam’s hand grasped her elbow.
No.
She would’t allow this gold digger to manhandle her. She wouldn’t let holier-than-thou Pamela Barnes Ewing look down on her.
Help her to bed like hell. Pam just wanted one more chance to show how perfectly prudent she was. She wasn’t drinking herself into a stupor at the thought of her husband being dead. Good for her.
Except that she couldn’t leave well enough alone. The alcohol made her ready for a fight. JR wasn’t there, so Pam would have to do. After all, the girl would be a perfect target.
But Sue Ellen had misjudged how far she could push Pam and she’d gotten a slap across her face, hard enough to knock her down. Pam looked surprised, angry, and just a little bit guilty when Sue Ellen finally met her eyes. It was then that Sue Ellen realized how she had underestimated Pam.
She began to cry, reaching out to grasp the only life line she had left now that her drink was spilled on the floor - Pam’s hand. And for that moment it was enough.
