Hours had passed and eventually, Xena had to go up to her and Gabrielle's shared room. Sneaking in was her best option. The room was pitch dark and silent as a tomb, but to her dismay:
"Don't bother with the sneaking, Xena. I know you're there."
Xena sighed dejectedly. Gabrielle had learned to sense her even when she was trying to be at her sneakiest. She peered into the darkness toward the lump on the bed which was facing away from her. Clearly whatever the Goddess may have said to Gabrielle had no effect. The bard was still angry with her -- more so from what she could discern from the woman's body language.
"Where's --"
"Just go to sleep, Xena."
She undressed and lay next to the bard. The silence was unbearable. She had to say something, anything.
"Gabrie--"
"Oh Gods...Yes... Like that!"
Xena froze. An all too familiar rhythmic thumping could be heard from a room nearby. In the silence of their room, Gabrielle and Xena heard every creak, groan and moan. Xena glanced toward Gabrielle and found that the woman was successfully ignoring both her and the couple next door. She, however, had just about had it.
"Will you two shut up?!"
The noise abruptly stopped. Then, suddenly:
"You shut up! I'm trying to get some!"
"That's telling 'em, Pelorus!"
It got even louder after that.
Xena pinched the bridge of her nose. This was going to be a very long night.
