A/N: First time here in femslash100 land! First time writing GA fic. I've not seen a lot of it either, kind of watching the UK run sporadically, but I saw this prompt and this sprang to mind. Set somewhere early in early S2. Be gentle?
Addison isn't blind, nor is she stupid. She sees the way Meredith looks at Derek and she knows, hidden not too far from her surface, that she doesn't have the right to notice. Meredith leans in too close in surgeries. Her hands brush his if he hands her something. They smile, coy and coquettish, as they pass each other, sliding opposites through metal elevator doors.
It's not him Addison wants, it's never been him. It's always the chase, the trial-through-fire to snatch a victory, battling and bantering and biting opportunities until finally, finally she wins. Derek is doing the chasing now, and he isn't chasing her.
She could mope in misery or she could chase anew, snatching a prize away from a double-sided dream and dragging it away from him, all the way to her.
This is how Addison ends up pressing Meredith Grey's back against a closed exam room door and kissing her as though they've fucked and fucked well. It surprises her when Meredith returns the kiss and suddenly there are hands pushing her scrub top up. Meredith is trying to say something but Addison splays the fingers of one hand over her mouth, shushing and sensual. Her wedding ring looks quite stark against her skin and the red smudge of Meredith's mouth.
"Why do you still wear that?" Meredith asks.
"Because it proves I win the chase," whispers Addison, and she looks at who she's won.
