Dani felt as though she had just closed her eyes when the phone rang. She batted a hand toward it and then picked it up. “’Lo,” she slurred.
“Where are you?”
“You called me. You should-” She stopped suddenly when she realized who the voice belonged to. “Rachel?”
There was a deep sigh on the other end of the phone. “Yeah.”
“Where are you?”
“LAX.”
“That’s here.”
“I e-mailed you my itinerary a week ago.”
“Oh shit. I read it and then we’ve been going non-stop all week and-“ Dani rolled out of bed and slipped on her shoes. She wouldn’t be getting out of the car so sleep shorts and a long t-shirt would have to do.
“I get it. Should I catch a cab?”
“The only cab that’ll drive out here will charge you an arm and a leg. I’m on my way. Which terminal?”
“Seven.”
Dani groaned inwardly. Even with the police lights going, it would take at least five more minutes to get through to the far terminal.
“But I could walk across to Terminal One if you want.”
“That would be great,” Dani said, scooping up her car keys. “Rachel?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m glad you’re here.”
