Summary: Brienne is tired of going through the motions. Enter Arya.
Every time Brienne trained someone, be it Podrick or one of the locals or one of their children, she waged a war against boredom. She helped her trainees, correcting footwork or the positioning of their sword arms. Very few of them presented any kind of challenge. She needed a proper workout of her own, someone to compete with who would bring a bit of spice to these training sessions. Pod was getting better, but still was leagues behind where he should have been at this point.
She was waiting for Pod to get up from his spot on the ground, a position he was far too familiar with, when the younger Stark girl approached and offered to spar. Brienne admired the dagger tucked into Arya’s light armor, but the sword she carried was too light to make an impact. The girl just smiled as she promised not to do any damage to Brienne.
Brienne took a few experimental swings of her sword. The girl defended herself well and then went on the attack. The moment that Brienne was staring at the end of Arya’s sword, she knew she had found something special. The battle was on. They fought until Brienne managed to disarm Arya of her sword and, in a flash, Brienne saw a dagger pointed at her throat. The young Stark grinned at her, looking more like a girl at play than a trained assassin.
Arya’s eyes held promise and Brienne realized that they would dance together again soon.
