Author's Note: Oops! Ended up working two hours late yesterday because the girl who was supposed to relieve me got in a wreck (everybody's okay, thank God, but the car's totaled). By the time I got home, I'd forgotten all about posting this!
They learned long ago how to communicate without ever saying a word. A foot, clad only in sheer pantyhose, sliding around Dorothy’s ankle or up her trousers underneath the dining table means, Ah want you. The higher Blanche’s foot goes, the greater and more urgent her need. Sometimes, they end up in the bathroom at whatever restaurant at which they’re dining, leaving their dates behind until they finally get the hint and leave without them.
More often, Dorothy tries to make it home or at least to their car. Sometimes, they never even make it out the door, like now, when Blanche murmurs for her to wait and slides a bite of cheesecake between Dorothy’s lips. Her fingers hesitate against her mouth until Dorothy slowly pulls in the bite and licks Blanche’s fingers.
Then it’s a quick race back to Blanche’s room, if Ma and Rose are home. Somehow, they always seem oblivious to their true desires, even when Blanche feeds Dorothy cheesecake in front of them.
Regardless of the circumstances, though, Dorothy always hears the same thing when she pulls Blanche close and gazes into her eyes while kissing her. Always, she hears the pounding of their hearts and a whispered, Ah want you, Dorothy. Of course, Blanche isn’t saying any of that; her lips and tongue are too busy kissing Dorothy back. But for tonight, as it is every night, the silent confession is enough to keep her at Blanche’s side all night long.
