Challenge 83 - Weakness

Olivia refused to allow herself to feel anything for Casey. Feelings for someone were a sign of weakness, and she had already opened herself up with Alex, only to lose her. She wouldn’t go through that again. She wouldn’t let herself be weak anymore.
Except that now she’s sitting here on Casey’s hospital bed, watching as the strawberry blonde cries, her bruised and battered face turning red. And she lets the word “honey” slip out, before she evens knows what she’s doing. She holds Casey’s hand and allows herself this moment of weakness, because Casey is at her weakest too.

It was a sign of weakness to stay in an abusive relationship. Hell, it was a sign of weakness to be in an abusive relationship. Except that Cameron didn’t consider herself weak, not like everyone else did. And her relationship with Stacy wasn’t abusive, in the way that abusive relationships were classified.
It was just dangerous. More for her heart than for her body, except that she usually had scratch marks on her back from Stacy’s nails and bruises from her tight grasp. But her heart was in far more danger than her body.
She knew she should get out while she could. Except that it was her supposed weakness that made her feel strong.
