You're not my Rachel. The thought comes unbidden through Kitty's mind. It's not the first time she's thought it since this new Rachel appeared in her time nor will it be the last, but she tries not to think it when she's near.
Rachel looks up. Their eyes lock, and Kitty swallows hard, her throat suddenly dry, for she knows she heard her. Rachel glances at the others around them, then slightly nods her head. If Kitty hadn't been watching closely, she'd never notice the movement, but she does and follows her silently from the room.
Rachel leads her to the nearest empty bedroom, not even a room of their own. "I'm sorry -- " Kitty stops when Rachel shakes her head.
"Don't be." Her deep, green eyes are veiled by her eyelashes; Kitty wonders if she wears the same mascara her Rachel used to. "You're not my Kate either," Rachel speaks softly as if confiding a great but secret truth, "but that doesn't mean we can't help heal each other's hearts."
She steps up to Kitty, closing the physical distance between them, and presses her lips to Kitty's so softly that, at first, Kitty's not certain of her intentions. But when Rachel deepens their kiss, cups and caresses her face, and draws her thumb softly across her cheek, Kitty shivers in a way that only one other person has ever been able to make her to. Maybe they can heal each other's broken hearts, she thinks and finally returns her kiss.
