“Sleeping with-” she whispered, “Gloria has nothing to do with dad!”
“What are you saying? Are you saying you love her?” Mitchell crossed his arms snarkily.
“Yes.” She said, with a conviction that shocked even herself.
Mitchell’s mouth was agape and he glanced behind Claire. “Hi Gloria.”
“Nice try.” Claire rolled her eyes, turning. “Like I’m going to fall for- Gloria! How much did you hear…?”

“Your problem is that you think you have to apologize for being you.”
“I do not!” Claire protested, high-pitchedly.
“You’re always looking for approval. Just be you.”
“How do you always know what to say?”
Gloria stole a kiss, “because I’m always right.”
