They fought so badly over the bridesmaids' dresses that Elsa and Tiana threatened to remove them from the discussion entirely. Instead, they gave them one last chance to come to an arrangement.

"I ain't giving up on pink," said Lottie, folding her arms primly.

Anna, in her underwear, threw a sash at her. "I ain't giving in to pink," she replied, mimicking Lottie's accent. She put her hands on her hips, sticking out her lace-bra-clad chest. "I'd sooner go naked."

"Sugar, you're cute," Lottie gestured downwards, "but I don't think Tia and Elsa would appreciate it."

"You think I'm cute?" Anna raised an eyebrow.

"That," Lottie grinned, "can wait for the wedding party. Ain't it tradition for the best man to dance with the bridesmaid?"

"I'm not the best man."

"And I'm no maid," said Lottie, and when Anna caught on she flushed cheeks, chest and lower down. "But we do what we can, hmm?"

She sauntered over in her silky slip and turned Anna to face the mirror, holding her hips. Her fingers brushed Anna's hipbones, and from her smile it was deliberate.

"We could do lilac."

"Lilac?" squeaked Anna. Lottie's other hand was cupping one of her buttocks. She tried to picture it, and mostly pictured Lottie in lilac underwear. "Lilac could work."

"Of course, we might have to change our underwear for that."

"You mean take it off, right?" Anna had to check.

"For a start."

Hey, some traditions had to be kept. She nodded. "Lilac works."

Belle never sings when she knows Aurora is listening.

Aurora realised this early on, and it did not take her much longer to realise why. It’s hard to compete with a fairy-given gift. Though she had not known that, for years. Until Belle, and the changing of her destiny.

She tried to ask, to plead, to tease, but nothing will persuade Belle to sing, not in the beautiful way that she did. It was not without scars, Maleficent’s defeat; Aurora’s leave her left arm half-useless, but Belle’s were the more dangerous. By fairy magic, she survived the cutting of her throat, but even so her voice is altered.

It’s easy to say that you don’t care when your voice is flawless. But Aurora doesn’t, because all she wants to hear is the knowledge that Belle is happy enough to sing again.

But it seems Belle is happier not singing, and asks Aurora to sing for them both when they are wed.

It is only after the birth of their first child - Aurora had been terrified, but Belle had kissed the tears away - that Aurora hears her sing.
She stops, smiling, to listen to the most beautiful lullaby she has heard.

(Inspired by this amazing art.)

In any set of meetings between two new Kingdoms, especially ones that have very different languages, there are going to be inevitable language issues. The important thing, Elsa had found, was to face them honestly and to avoid offence unless it was truly clear it had been meant.

Like Maldonian, where the same word could mean ice and mirror. That had taken time.

So it was only natural that sooner or later it would be Arendelle who made the mistake. As it was, their first major one came at an astonishingly embarrassing moment.

Letters, carefully translated, had prepared for the Heir to the Throne of the Rose Kingdom to visit Arendelle. The Heir was a knight, the letters said, renowned for the graceful and elegant fighting methods they used, their skill on horseback, their beauty. They had quite famous golden armour, and Anna at least was looking forward to seeing it.

Then the ship arrived.

A woman rode down the gangplank on horseback. She had blonde hair pinned up in large curls, blue eyes and high cheekbones, and had a presence and steadiness that only added to her beauty.

She was also wearing golden armour.

Anna still looked confused as Elsa fought helpless giggles. The princess, fae-blessed with grace and beauty.

Perhaps she should have realised.

The princess dismounted to ascend the steps and meet Elsa and Anna, hand on her sword-hilt, and looked at Elsa with as much awe as Elsa looked at her.

Well, there were worse surprises.
