"Now," Inara starts, "when your client arrives, greet them and offer them a glass of wine,"
"What if they say no?" Kaylee asks.
Inara smiles. "These people are rich, snobs, perhaps, but they have manners and refusing wine offered by their host would be rude."
"That makes sense."
"It would be wise to not let the client indulge in too much, even though tolerance varies, but don't announce that they've already had enough. Be subtle."
"How?"
"First by setting down your own glass to indicate that you're finished, and if the client notices, they'll do the same."
"Okay. Then what?"
Inara gives Kaylee a knowing look, and sits on the bed, gesturing for her to sit down.
She does, carefully situating herself next to Inara, the velvet comforter smooth and comfy.
Inara chuckles softly. "It's normal to feel nervous, especially your first time, but try to not let it show. You wouldn't want to seem standoffish to your client."
Kaylee nods and scoots closer.
"Also, don't be afraid to initiate physical contact, most clients prefer it, particularly the amateurs. Encourage and reassure them."
Kaylee puts her hand on her leg, just above her knee. "Like this?"
Inara smiles again. "Yes."
