Title: Fogged Mirror

Pairing: Cuddy/Laurie
Rating: PG

Other people would’ve said they were mirror images of each other. House would’ve drooled and made rude comments about twins. But Cuddy knew better. They may have looked alike, but she and Laurie were two very different people. They were reflections from a fogged mirror at best.
Sometimes, lying next to Laurie after they’ve had sex, she wishes she could be more like the law student.
(And wouldn’t House love that?)
Laurie was younger with a passion for life. Lisa was older and her passion was slowly dying. Laurie felt no guilt. Sometimes all Lisa felt was guilt. Laurie laughed readily. Lisa hadn’t laughed often enough. And if Laurie wanted to smoke some pot, she did so without care. Lisa couldn’t do that.
So instead she kisses Laurie, inhales secondhand marijuana, and hopes that maybe some of Laurie will rub off on her.
And the fog will begin to lift.

It wasn’t difficult for them to carry out their secret relationship. After all, they were so used to deception, so practiced in the art of conniving, that it made it just another game for them.
Of course they’d been attracted to each other from the start. The cunning brunette and the sensual redhead. Their lives were so similar. Playing cat and mouse with a man until they’d switched sides and joined the other team. They had met through Thomas and Mac, and sparks flew immediately. They found an equal in each other that they couldn’t find even in their beloved partners. If only because their partners weren’t female.
It wasn’t that they weren’t content with their lives. They were. Catherine loved her “Tommy”. And Gin loved Mac. And they both loved the jobs they did. But both women needed excitement in their lives all the time, or they got bored. Their affair added to the thrill and adventure.
Plotting, planning, stealing, slipping away, meeting each other secretly right behind their partner’s backs, it was all part of their everyday life. Just more smoke and mirrors.
Simple. An amateur’s game.
But it sure was a hell of a lot of fun.
