“I don’t even know how you managed this,” Selina admits. She rakes her fingers through Harley’s hair, eying it carefully to make sure she’s cut evenly on both sides.
“I got distracted,” Harley shrugs airily.
At least the gum only got tangled in the ends of her hair and not at the scalp, because the sticky mess it left couldn’t be saved. Cutting it off was the only option.
“Maybe next time you’ll remember to spit out your gum before taking on Batgirl,” Selina says, exasperated.
“Yeah, yeah,” Harley mutters noncommittally, craning her neck to look at herself in the mirror. “Hey, this ain’t half bad.” She shakes her head, admiring the fall of her hair. Selina kept as much length as she could, even cut some light layers into it to frame Harley’s face.
Selina rolls her eyes. “You’re lucky it’s in my best interests to keep you looking pretty. Besides, I don’t want gum stuck to my sheets.”
Harley grins at her in the mirror before bouncing to her feet. “Thanks, kitty,” she chirps, leaning in for a kiss, and Selina leans in too.
Their lips are almost touching before Selina jerks her head back suspiciously. “Wait, are you chewing gum right now?” she snaps.
Harley nods, shrugging again. “Yeah, it’s blueberry.”
Selina sighs and holds out her hand, wrinkling her nose when Harley obediently places her half-chewed gum in Selina’s palm.
The shriek Harley gives when Selina sticks the blueberry wad to her nose is weirdly satisfying.
