Prompt: Drabble Tag 6 - Perfect
Fandom: Negima
Pairing: Konoka/Setsuna
Rating: G
Word count: 200
Notes: Kendogi is the upper part of kendo's uniform. The trousers are called hakama. Shinai are practice bamboo swords, the kissaki are the leather caps that tops those swords Before the invention of the shinai, bokuto (wooden sword) and blunted swords were used instead, causing many injuries. Men is the helmet used in kendo, but also the uppermost point of an oponent's head, one of the places to strike. Suburi are empty cuts, cuts practiced on air, one of the first things learned in kendo and practiced constantly regardless of level or ability. Chudan is the basic stance in kendo, the middle-height stance. The sword held in front of the body and it's a balanced position for both offense and defense

The leaves fell in spirals around her, some even touching her kendogi. Setsuna did not move, the movement of her chest almost unnoticeable. Her eyes were open, but she was imperturbable. As she inhaled, her left foot slid back, her arms rose above her head, the shinai behind her head. A mere moment's pause, breath held, her left hand's grip tight. Then, explosion. Exhalation, the front foot joining the back foot, her arms surging into motion, down. And with them, the sword descended.

With her eyes, Setsuna followed the kissaki and, with her mind, she saw: the blade struck men, then cut through. On the courtyard's floor, the leaves on the ground were blown away by the wind her shinai had created.

Perfect. The cut had been flawless. Yet, would it be enough? Would her sword strike her target and cut through when the time came in which she would have to protect ojou-sama? Or would it remain a suburi?

Frowning, Setsuna returned to chudan. Practice more, think less.

From a distance, but not too far away, another pair of eyes watched her train. Perfect, Konoka thought too, but it wasn't the cut she thought of. Nor did she doubt.
