They had long grown accustomed to the burn of the sun over time, even now they only felt brief tendrils of pain, in addition to the many fresh blisters on their backs, arms, old blisters that had had become callouses, their skin tanned under grit and dirt.
The Valkyrie doesn't even wince when Furiosa splashes warm water on her wound after it had been thoroughly cauterized to stop the rapid blood loss.
After it's wrapped tightly by a ripped shirt, she looks at Furiosa who returns her gaze, her eyebrows raised.
She has her mother's eyes, she thinks. How cliche.
