Setting: After their "story line" in season two, as they're on their quest to bring Phillip back.

"Mulan?"
Mulan looks up from the last embers of the dying fire, to see Aurora gazing at her.
"You are supposed to be asleep." Mulan whispers.
"I have had enough sleep for the rest of my life, thank you. I would much rather watch you." As she speaks, Mulan notices that Aurora's hand never leaves her chest, always checking to ensure that, yes, her heart is still there.
"I'm afraid I'm not doing anything terribly interesting." Mulan states, plainly.
"I don't mind. It's you I find so fascinating." Aurora says.
“Was that a complement?” Mulan asks.
“Of course it was. Why should I not compliment one whom is as lovely as you?” Aurora’s eyes have taken on that misty, dream-like quality she took on only when she had spoken to Phillip.
Mulan isn’t certain what that means, so she choses to ignore it.
“We are friends, right, Mulan?” Aurora looks ashamed for a second.
Mulan nods. “Yes, we are.”
“Friends.” Aurora sighs, happily. “I like that. I don’t think I’ve ever had a friend before. Not even Phillip, since we were betrothed when I was just a baby, so I suppose I never saw him as a friend.”
“I’m glad that I could be your first, Aurora.” Mulan smiles.
“Me too.” Aurora whispers, with a grin.
As the night drags on, neither of them question it when Mulan rests her head on Aurora’s shoulder as she sleeps, or when they awaken with their hands inter-twined.
They are friends, after all.
