The first time Delinda kissed Sam, she tasted like fruity alcoholic drinks that they had been drinking all night. Every time they kissed after that, whether it was when Sam would pull her into one of her whale’s suites for a quick, wild make out session or the few long, passionate stolen moments at night, Sam tasted like liquid fire, hot and all consuming.
But the last time they kissed, on the night when Sam got back from her rendezvous with Woody, and Delinda announced her engagement, she didn’t taste like fire. Instead, Sam tasted like salty tears and regret.
